Meeting Summary | Mirror Art Precision - Online Sharing Session on Endoscopic Spine Technology of Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital (Session 3)
2024-07-01
On June 28, 2024, the "Endoscopic Art - Online Sharing Conference on Spinal Endoscopy Technology (Phase III)" was successfully held, organized by the Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital and co-organized by the Shipeide College. The conference was chaired by Professor Jiang Yue from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital, with Professor Yu Bin serving as the executive chairman. Professor Wang Rui from Shanxi Bethune Hospital was specially invited to share a lecture, and many experts and scholars from across the country gathered to exchange the latest research results and clinical experiences in spinal endoscopy technology, providing strong support for the further development and application of this technology.
"Endoscopic Art" is a series of academic activities jointly created by Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital and Shipeide College, focusing on the application of spinal endoscopy technology. With the continuous development of medical technology, spinal endoscopy technology, as a minimally invasive treatment method, has been widely applied in the field of spinal surgery. This technology has advantages such as minimal trauma, quick recovery, and fewer complications, which is of great significance for improving patients' quality of life and reducing medical costs.

At the beginning of the conference, Professor Yu Bin from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital welcomed the enthusiastic participation of online experts and colleagues, thanked Shipeide College for providing a communication platform for this conference, and expressed gratitude to all the experts and professors for taking valuable time out of their busy schedules to share their lectures. He warmly introduced the experts giving lectures this time, including Professor Wang Rui from Shanxi Bethune Hospital, Professor Zhang Nan from Dalian University Affiliated Xinhua Hospital, and Professor Teng Hai from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Second Hospital. The conference also invited Professor Zhang Boce from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital, Professor Zheng Liang from the Northern Theater General Hospital, and Professor Weng Keji from Kuandian County Central Hospital to share exciting case studies. The continued hosting of the Endoscopic Art series of activities is thanks to the support of all the experts and colleagues, and finally, Professor Jiang Yue was warmly invited to give the opening speech.
Professor Jiang Yue from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital delivered the opening speech for this conference. He thanked experts from both inside and outside the province for bringing the latest research results to share and discuss. In recent years, the rapid development of spinal endoscopy technology has led to the emergence of various new technologies, developments, theories, and practices. This conference invited many well-known experts in the field of spinal minimally invasive surgery to give lectures, share research results, and exchange academic experiences. I believe this conference will achieve positive academic effects. I hope to learn from many fellow physicians, exchange ideas, and make progress together to benefit more patients.

Professor Yu Bin from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital demonstrated online the dual-channel decompression surgery based on spinal endoscopy. The case involved a patient with epidural lipomatosis and bilateral lateral recess stenosis. During the dual-channel surgery using spinal endoscopy, the procedure was completed in less than an hour, achieving thorough decompression of the bilateral lateral recess. Professor Yu stated that the dual-channel surgery based on spinal endoscopy not only has the advantage of using an external ring saw to quickly handle bony tissue but also utilizes the Donghong Zhiyuan hollow drill, which perfectly fits the size of the spinal endoscope. The ring saw protective sleeve effectively protects soft tissue, allowing for safe and efficient handling of bony tissue under visualization. Additionally, the dual-channel surgery can use open surgical instruments, making the use of instruments more flexible, and the operation and observation channels can be switched as needed. The surgical operation is flexible and efficient, significantly shortening the surgical time and providing great advantages for handling stenosis cases.
Professor Jiang Yue from Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital summarized the conference. After introducing the relevant concepts of epidural lipomatosis, Director Jiang mentioned that epidural lipomatosis is a type of spinal stenosis. Using spinal endoscopy for epidural lipomatosis surgery can achieve results comparable to open surgery in the short term, and in the long term, it has better effects on patients' postoperative recovery. With the increasing indications for spinal endoscopy surgery, hospitals across the province are using spinal endoscopy for more clinical explorations. It is hoped that in the future, more colleagues can discuss and exchange ideas together.
The successful convening of this conference helps to strengthen academic exchanges among experts in the field of spinal minimally invasive surgery and promotes the vigorous development of minimally invasive spinal surgery. The original intention of the Endoscopic Art series of activities is to provide a platform for communication and interaction, facilitating participating experts to gather around the development of the orthopedic industry, explore the relationship between heaven and man, connect the changes of ancient and modern times, gather the strengths of various schools, and create a collective voice. Participants with shared aspirations gather here to discuss academics, develop together, and create the future.
